Thank you for
choosing Dynamo’s Swim School lesson program to teach your child to swim.
Please read the following information. If you have any questions or concerns
please let us know. We ask that all
parents that wish to stay for the lessons sit in the bleachers near the
competition pool. Please do not sit or stand around the pool deck during
lessons. You are welcome to watch for the last five minutes of each class. On
the fourth and last class of each session, you may sit near the pool to watch
the lessons and to see the progress your child has made. Please do not
let your child enter the water before class. Swimmers are asked to stand
along the wall at end of the training pool until class begins. We strongly
encourage the use of goggles; this aids a child in putting his face in the
water and in opening his eyes under water. Please bring your child’s goggles
to each class. We recommend that a child placed in Gradeschool Level 6 and above
bring swim fins to class. We use a lot of
repetition in our classes. Repetition is essential to all levels of swimming
instruction. Students may practice during our public swim hours free of
charge during a session for which they are enrolled. Remember that
each child learns at his own rate – please do not compare your child’s
progress with that of another child. The length of time it takes a child to
learn to swim varies. It depends on your child’s age, maturity, and level of
fitness. It can take a preschooler 20 or more lessons to learn the basic
skills of floating, kicking, and returning to the wall. Older children
usually learn more quickly. ABOUT DYNAMO SWIM
SCHOOL Each swimmer will receive a
Dynamo Swim School certificate. The certificate allows the child to chart his
progress through the Swim School program. Our Swim School is goal driven and
technique oriented. Dynamo Swim School utilizes a 10-station progression
system. The advancement skills for each station are listed on the reverse
side of the certificate. Once a child can satisfactorily complete all of the
skills listed in one station then he progresses to the next station. On the first day of class each
new swimmer is evaluated and placed in the appropriate station based on his
swimming ability. A returning student is placed in the station he was in at
the end of his last lesson. Your child will later receive the appropriate
number of gold stickers designating station placement. These stickers are
then placed in the circles found on the front of the certificate. Your child
will receive one sticker less than the number of the group in which he was
placed. For example, a child placed in Level 5 would receive four stickers. Our
Program Director will keep track of each swimmer’s progress and station
placement. When a swimmer has completed the skills for his station, the
Program Director will move him to the next station. The Program Director will
hand out an additional sticker at the end of class.
